Maria Menounos
As she was caring for her mother who suffers from stage 4 brain cancer, Maria discovered she was in the midst of a health crisis on her own. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. She has told PEOPLE that she has been experiencing lightheadedness and headaches since February 2014. "My speech had become lost and I had difficulty using the Teleprompter". A MRI discovered that Menounos had a size golf ball-sized meningioma brain tumor, which was pressing on her facial nerves. Menounos had an appointment scheduled with her mother's doctor, famous neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black, and they scheduled surgery on June 8, her 39th birthday. He said that it was 98 per cent benign. However, we wouldn't be able to know until the time they reach. The complex procedure, lasting about 7 hours Dr. Black was able to get rid of 99.9 percent of the tumor. It proved to be benign. The doctor. Black stated that it is likely to have the tumor reappearing in six to seven percent of cases. "But I'll take the odds anytime." Menounos is home after a six-day stay in hospital. She is currently recuperating and spending time with Litsa as well as her mother. Litsa's most recent MRI confirms that she is still free of cancer.
